Limberlost Forest (Muskoka): June 2 - 5, 2016
Fourth Chute: Keith Thirgood
Canadian artist Keith Thirgood demonstrates his post-impressionist approach to painting the Canadian landscape to you and the other participants of this three-day Art Retreat in the Limberlost Forest of Muskoka, Ontario.
Limberlost Forest is a 10,000 acre reserve of unspoiled forest, full of streams and lakes. Keith has painted there and knows where to go for the best scenes.
As an added bonus, Keith will lead you in Modern Colour Theory and practical color mixing.

Your weekend in the resort begins Thursday evening, after check in, with an orientation session and a class on Modern Colour Theory and how it will help you during the retreat and beyond. Keith will also discuss the art of plein air painting.
Friday morning at 9 am it's off to the first location. First thing Keith will introduce you to the fundamentals of his technique, and he will help you get set up to begin your first piece. Around noon we break for lunch, and then back to some serious painting for the rest of the day.

Saturday we begin the day with a demo and then painting a new location, which you continue with until it's finished.
Sunday we head off to a new location, a new demo and, in the afternoon before we all say goodbye, we will have a chance to review and learn from each others work.
Date: Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5.
Location: Limberlost Forest, Haliburton, Ontario
We are staying in the fabulous Buck Lake Lodge, a 75-year old retreat built for the wealthy last century.
This is a self-catered event. To hold down costs, we are providing a large kitchen for your use and you bring and prepare your own meals.
There is studio space to paint if the weather turns against us.
As space is limited, all accommodation is shared, two artists per room, or if a couple is in one room the room is shared between the couple and an individual artist. (If a couple wants a room to themselves, add $100 to the total, as this eliminates one artist from the retreat.)
This is a self-catered retreat. Because of the camp's remoteness, we have lowered the price and each person will be responsible for their own meals. The lodge has a large kitchen and with the limited number of us, we should have no problem preparing our own meals.
